Day Services

Ard Aoibhinn Centre, opened in early ‘95 by Brendan Howlin, Minister for the Environment and is a purpose built facility catering for the needs of Wexford people with learning disabilities and special needs. The people who avail of this service range in age from early childhood through to senior citizens, all of whom have varying levels of ability.

Currently we offer services to approximately 100 service users and their families


• Preschool - 2½ to 5yrs , • Children’s Day Room - 5 to 18 yrs,  • Adult Day Room - 18yrs+,  • Activation Section - 18yrs+. • Residential Services - 18yrs+, • Older Persons’s Unit - 50yrs+, • Children’s Respite Service, • Outreach Services

Ard Aoibhinn Day Supports consist of:-

THE PRESCHOOL:-

Caters for children aged 2-6 with developmental delay or any level of disability. Some children transfer to mainstream education, some to special schools and those who are profoundly disabled will transfer to the childrens day room which is designed to cater for their special needs

 

THE DAY ROOMS:-

Cater for children and adults who need a high support service because of their severe and profound disabilities. A range of activities and therapies, suitable to the needs of the individuals in these sections is included in their daily programme.

 

ACTIVATION :

Caters for adults aged 18 upwards with high support needs

The adults supported by this service enjoy many varied activities including art, craft, reading, writing, cooking, gardening, woodwork, pottery, development of social and personal skills, P.E. at a local gym, swimming, visits to library, cinema, banks and other outings within the community

Caters for adults aged 18 upwards

With fibre optic lighting, aromatherapy, music and reflexology provides a range of therapies suitable to the needs of the clients

 


facilitates the services provided by the Health Service Executive, Physiotherapist, Speech Therapist and Psychologist who attend weekly and are involved in the implementation of the Person Centred Plans for the service users attending the Centre.

Transport
We have 16 vehicles the majority of which are specially adapted for wheelchair use and travel all over Co. Wexford, from Fethard through Camross to Gorey and south as far as Rosslare and cater for 30 clients and cover 300 miles per day.

Catering
At the Centre, A full meal is available daily with Individual meals and special dietary needs catered for.

 

Elderly Service
Has been established for our elderly service users. A dedicated group of staff provide supports for our older service users or those who prefer a slower pace. At the moment we offer services for up to 6 service users.

Careers

Ard Aoibhinn provides Day services provides for people with an intellectual disability and special needs from 3 locations in the Wexford Town Area. Services are offered to pre-school children, Adults and an Elderly Group.

 

Ard Aoibhinn currently supports 3 residential homes for people with and intellectual disability with High support needs and low support needs. Respite and Family support services are managed through our residential services.

 

Ard Aoibhinn employees people from a range of different disciplines including Nursing, Social Care and Behaviour management. We operate a relief panel for Nursing and Care Staff. Details of current vacancies can be viewed on our Careers page.
